  • Omega Reveals New Look Speedmaster

Retaining their links to the original model’s motor racing heritage, Omega has unveiled two new additions to its iconic Speedmaster collection.

     Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch

Combining Master Chronometer certification with elegant, contemporary lines, the new Speedmaster Moonwatch Automatic, driven by a caliber 9900 movement, maintains the  distinctive minute-track style found on the 1968 Speedmaster, but with the addition of a new matt-black dial graced with orange markings and bevelled 18K white gold arrowhead indexes laced with white Super-LumiNova to ensure visual accuracy by day and night. For this Moonwatch facelift, the subdials have also been slightly expanded for improved readability, while the 44.25 mm case is now thinner thanks to a slenderer sapphire crystal face.

The new piece’s polished ceramic bezel features a brushed Liquidmetal tachymeter scale as well as distinctive orange wording that matches the colour of the varnished hands and tip of the seconds hand, as well as orange accents found on the black leather strap, created through the addition of micro perforations that reveal the orange rubber within. This perforated design provides the perfect sporty, masculine look while also aerating the wearer’s skin.

     Omega 38

With a refined 38mm case made from stainless steel and 18K Sedna gold (an alloy of gold, copper, and palladium, used in several Omega watches), the new Omega Speedmaster 38mm – nicknamed the Cappuccino for its taupe-brown subdials, tachymeter ring and
leather strap – also retinas the Speedmaster collection’s heritage, while introducing a
new aesthetic touch that looks as good on the fairways as it does in the boardroom.

One of the calibre 3330-driven piece’s most interesting features is the diamond-paved bezel – a bridging mechanism between men’s and women’s collections –  that also includes a tachymeter scale on a brown aluminium ring. This dual design has enabled Omega to add the elegance of diamonds while retaining the sporty DNA of the original Speedmaster models. The watch features a bi-colour dial with unique oval subdials in brown, as well as an oval date window positioned at 6 o’clock. The dial’s “baton” hands and indexes have also been created from 18K Sedna gold. www.omega.com
